Ramadan Night 21 - The Ninth Entry

O ye who believe!
Truly, among your wives
And your children are (some
That are) enemies to
Yourselves: so beware
Of them! But if ye
Forgive and overlook
And cover up (their faults).
Verily Allah is
Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
S.64 A.14

Yet another verse espousing forgiveness!  Maybe next year I will count and collect all the incidents in this holy book that references forgiveness - forgiveness by man and forgiveness by God.  The following year my target will be "mercy", the year after that.....you get the idea.  Where on earth (perhaps the wrong place) do these people get their beliefs about hatred and malice flowing from the Koran?
I think there is a remarkable amount of insight in this verse!  God counsels us to deal with family who work against us, not just to remove ourselves from them for His sake. He tells us to forgive them and to work with their sins, not to discard them as we would a false friend or aquaintance.  He knows we are frail humans, and will most likely need more than His word to sustain us, we need the comfort, assurance, and stability of family to successfully navigate this realm.  God is forgiving and merciful.
