If your stream be
Some morning lost
(In the underground earth),
Who then can supply you
With clear-flowing water?"
S.67 A.30
This is another beautiful parable utilizing nature to make a point about our spirituality. Water is to life as God's word is to our soul. It is also subtly powerful - unconsciously we know how critical water is to our survival, and that we cannot do without it for long. Likewise, how long can we afford to ignore God's word before our soul shrivels and dies? These parables are so beautiful, so effective that I feel I cannot do justice trying to elaborate or explain my reaction. This one touched me deeply.
This is beautiful. It knocks us off our high horses and gently reminds us of our reality. Yes if our stream becomes lost - then what? And like you say, it uses such a basic pure element 'water' to remind us.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
Thank you. The simplicity and truth of this book humbles me.
